I'm very happy with Sofortbild and didn't miss Nikon Camera Control Pro so far. Sony’s Camera Remote Control Supports Sony on Windows, Mac. The thread at Photocamel also dissapeared. I really hope Nikon has taken action and sued them. Update February 2011: All Nikon Sofware has dissapeared from the imagemixer website. Most likely I will not buy the expensive software a second time and rather use the excellent and free Sofortbild app. I fully understand why Nikon is taking action but I don't understand why is still allowed to offer their software. The best alternative is digiCamControl, which is both free and Open Source.

There are more than 10 alternatives to Sofortbild for a variety of platforms, including Linux, Windows, Mac, Android and iPhone. I can only speak about Nikon software but obviously you should be also very cautious about the rest of their offer. Sofortbild is described as native macOS app for tethered shooting using Nikon DSLR cameras and is an app. If I want to use Nikon Camera Control Pro 2 I'm forced to buy it again from a Nikon authorized dealer.Īs of today is still offering Nikon software so hopefully this post will help others to stay away from this online store. I bought an illegal software product without knowing it. can support please only purchase from an authorized dealer.

The only web site authorized to sell software keys alone (not boxed copies of software) is the Nikon Mall. cannot assist with any license keys sold by this site and cannot replace any non-working keys without proof of purchase from an authorized dealer. This web site is not an authorized dealer and is not affiliated with Nikon Inc. It has come to our attention that a website called “” is attempting to sell Nikon software keys. I looked around and found an official statement from Nikon regarding this online company: Suddenly I can't use the software any longer and I also can't use the previous version any longer. Note that "System Information" utility only scans for hardware when it is launched (but you can do a CMD+R to force a refresh). You should at least see basic fields such as the "Vendor ID", "Product ID", and "Manufacturer" fields.

On the right you should now see every USB device connected to the Mac (whether there's a driver or not it will show up. In the left margin of the utility window, select the "USB" category. Go into the "Utilities" folder and launch the "System Information" utility. it's just a matter of figuring out why the camera isn't working on your computer.Ĭheck to see if the Mac can at least detect the presence of your camera.Ĭonnect the camera via USB and power it on. I do know of software that runs on Sierra and controls Nikon cameras - my eclipse software being one of them. I have noticed that Apple made some changes to how USB support works in Sierra (my "guess" is that this might be to do with them updating USB to support the new "USB C" standard.)

So you might want to make sure you are using the correct cable for your camera. Your camera won't show up without a cable that wires those data pins. One semi-command problem is that so many devices now use USB cables as "charging" cables that there are now products that ship with "USB charging cables" that have ONLY the power-pins wired and no data pins. I don't own a Nikon to test, but that can't be right.
